Henry Fonda (1905-1982) was an American actor who had a prolific career in film, television, and theater. He was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, and started his acting career in the 1920s on Broadway. He made his film debut in 1935 and went on to star in over 100 movies.

Fonda was known for his versatility and his ability to play a wide range of characters, from heroes to villains. He was also known for his distinctive voice and his naturalistic acting style. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the movie "On Golden Pond" (1981).

Fonda's other notable films include "The Grapes of Wrath" (1940), "12 Angry Men" (1957), "The Ox-Bow Incident" (1943), "Young Mr. Lincoln" (1939), and "The Wrong Man" (1956). He also appeared in several television shows and made-for-TV movies.

Fonda was married five times and had three children, including actress Jane Fonda and actor Peter Fonda. He died in Los Angeles in 1982 at the age of 77.
