Drew Barrymore Reacts to Hugh Grant’s Comment About Her Singing in ‘Music and Lyrics’

Actress Drew Barrymore responded to Hugh Grant on Instagram after he called her singing in the 2007 movie "Music and Lyrics" "horrendous."

On-screen interactions between Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant go back over two decades. In the 2007 film "Music and Lyrics," the Hollywood legends co-starred and were required to sing.

In a video interview with WIRED on Monday, the actor reflected on his time spent filming with Barrymore. Grant responds that he does sing in "Music and Lyrics," but that he is "auto-tuned beyond belief. "In reality, that's not the case. I have some auto-tuning, but not as much as some.

Grant continues, laughing, that Barrymore wouldn't mind if he said that "her singing is really horrible" in the movie.

He continued by joking that his dogs bark superior than Barrymore's singing ability. She did sound much better than him once she was autotuned, according to Grant, since she put a lot more emotion into it.

Drew Barrymore Sings Again Following Hugh Grant’s ‘Music and Lyrics’ Comment

Following the WIRED interview, Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore became the most popular topics on social media, inspiring viewers to revisit the 2007 movie.

Barrymore finally made the decision on Thursday to address Grant's criticism of her singing voice, and it was just as endearing as she is.

The "Charlie's Angels" actress shared a video of herself singing on her Instagram page while beaming broadly. Some of "Way Back Into Love," the film's popular song, was sung by Barrymore.

After showcasing her singing talent, she bids Grant farewell with the words "Well Hugh, Bert, Hubert, that's for you." Several of her supporters flocked to the comments section to show their support for the actress.

Hugh Grant plays Alex Fletcher in the 2007 movie "Music and Lyrics," while Drew Barrymore plays Sophie Fisher. When invited to create a song for young singer Cora Corman, the plot's faded former superstar Fletcher gets a chance for a professional return. He asks Fisher for assistance because he is unable to write lyrics on his own.
